Hi there, Dori Soukup, founder of InSPAration Management, here with another Question of the Week. I’m super excited about this question because it has to do all with the holidays. It came to us from Sam from New York. And he’s asking, “What is the best way to maximize gift card sales for the holidays?”

Gift card sales are huge during the holiday season. That’s a great question. How can you take a person that’s going to just walk in to buy a gift card to buying a gift card and a gift?

The best way to do it is to create three different packages for your med spa or spa and set it up as a display in your reception area or somewhere within the spa. Have it on electronic frames to show what each package includes.

You should bring up a price point of anywhere between $150 to maybe $250 to $350. Those gift cards should include a gift with them.

For example, let’s say your first level is $150. The person can buy a $100 gift card, and then they can purchase a $50 candle like this one. This is an amazing candle. It was a gift from one of my clients. It just smells absolutely amazing.

So the person that walks in, not only are they buying a $100 gift card, but now they get a beautiful gift to give their loved one with the gift. So we just increased the revenue from $100 to $150.

You can create that same method for the higher levels. Let’s say they buy a $150 gift card, and then they get a gift for $100. No matter how you want to set it up or what price ranges you want to set up, it’s always more fun to give a gift with the gift card.

So set it up and decorate for Christmas and have your team all wearing nice Santa hats or whatever fun things you want to do for your place. The more attention we make these gifts be and make them the center of your place, then the more you’re going to be able to sell.

This strategy works for any type of celebration, occasion or season. It could work for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, you name it. All of them; Easter, Valentine’s. Try to do this with every single holiday, and you’ll be able to maximize your gift card sales exponentially.
