How to Detoxify Your Business Part II

unspecified

Last time we talked about why it’s a good idea to give your spa business a detox once in a while. Just like our bodies, our businesses can become toxic and in need of a good cleanse. Use these tips to help your business become healthier and stronger!

Organizational Structure – The 5 Ws

Who, What, Where, When, Why — Is everyone on your spa team clear on what you’re trying to accomplish and how you’re going to get there? Or is everyone singing from their own hymn book? Let go of your team members who are toxic. If they don’t want to sing your song, they can find another group to join. Enough is enough!

Outline defined spa position descriptions, employee manuals, policies, procedures, etc. Make it clear what each team member’s part is and what is expected of them. Check out our Nine Spa Business Manuals and get healthy by the book!

“You’ve Got to be Kidding Me” Guest Experience

Your spa guests’ experience is a direct reflection of your retention rate. If you have a high retention rate, this indicates that your team and your guest experiences are great. If you have a low retention rate, you not only have toxins but cancer as well. You need emergency work and intensive care! How good is your retention rate?

The easiest way to increase retention is by consistently providing great guest experiences. You need to have a skilled spa team, engage your clients, build relationships, stay in touch, and get feedback.

Toxic Team

Your spa team can either make or break you. Some leaders are always coming up with excuses for bad performance. In reality, there is only one reason for bad performance: not being prepared. It’s just like taking a test at school. If you didn’t do your homework or study, you’re going to fail. Stop the excuses, take a look at your leadership skills, and take a good look at your team. Are they good students, or are they failing?

Healthy Team

Recruit and hire the right way from the beginning. Implement the C.L.A.R.I.T.I. Hiring System and build a strong, successful team. Set your expectations from your team high right from the start. Have them sign a commitment agreement and outline your standards. Let them know you’re serious about success. If you already have a team, you might want to have everyone go through a re-interview process.
