This week’s question comes to us from Nancy in New Hampshire. I know I look goofy, but that’s what social media is all about! It is having fun and engagement with your audience. So, Nancy’s question is,
“How important is it to use social media like Instagram and Facebook and others to generate leads and engagement?”
Well, that’s a very good question, Nancy. I’m so glad you asked that because we get this question quite often. You know, social media is very important, but I think where people make the mistake is they put all their eggs in one basket.
When it comes to generating leads and marketing your business, you have to use all sorts of marketing strategies to lead people. Since your question is about Facebook or Instagram specifically, then I have to tell you it is important. Those are two very important platforms that you should be doing things on. But here’s the thing. A lot of people use those without truly customizing the message to your database, to your actual community. So, I want to give you the advice to make it more personal. To use more real people to highlight your team. To ask questions such as, did you know?, or do you want to find out? Or use case studies, and use videos which most of you totally miss out on.
So, with Facebook, you can do Facebook Live. Facebook Live for events that you may not be doing right now. So, those are great to have and engage people.
With Instagram, you can do quick, little short videos or you can do stories to also get followers and engagement. Those are a couple of quick tips that you can implement within your social media strategy to create more engagement and more followers.
It is time-consuming, though. You have to schedule some time or assign this to someone else.
I want to give you another tip that’s going to make your life a lot easier. And that’s to plan your social media strategy for the whole month. Get a Word document out, and start doing daily posts in this document. Follow the theme that you’re going to focus on for this month. Then you can actually write them all out. Choose your pictures and your call to action, and that way, you can just schedule them. And have them available for someone to launch them for you. Or if it’s you that’s doing it, then you need to take the time to do it.
But either way, it has to be done. So, you have got to keep your eye on the ball and keep monitoring your social media efforts. I know I have to do it. So, you might as well too. Even though I have my team who does most of the work, I still want to inspect it and make sure it’s done properly.
