“Suggestions for a Frustrated Medical Spa Nurse Practitioner?”
Hi there, Dori Soukup, founder of InSPAration Management, here to share with you another Question of the Week. This week’s question came to us from Haley, who asked not to say where she’s from.
Haley’s saying, “I’m a nurse practitioner, very frustrated with the way things are managed in the place I work. Trying to break away. Any suggestions?”
Hayley, Hayley, Hayley. I think a lot of people feel your frustration. Because I have to tell you, my team just got off the phone with somebody – chiropractor, another nurse practitioner and a wellness coach. They are all fed up with the way the place is managed where they work, and they want to go out on their own.
So, this is happening actually quite a bit. And I’m sorry that you feel frustrated. But there is a better way. Here are a couple of suggestions for you.
One is if you like your position and it could be fixed, then my recommendation would be to have the owner of the place, maybe read my book. That would be a good place to start. Or you can set up a complimentary strategic session where I can get on the phone with them for a few minutes and find out if we can make the place better. So that’s one way.
If that’s not a possibility, or if you’ve already tried, then maybe it is time for you to go and do something else. Either find another place to work where you would be happy so you’re not frustrated — because the last thing you want is to feel bad when you’re actually going to work. Or we’ve helped many nurse practitioners go out on their own. So even if you just start by renting a little suite someplace, you can always start like that and then grow.
It really depends on what state you’re in, whether you can do your position on your own; whether you need a medical director or not; whether you’d like to go and team up with one. Really, the options are endless.
You really need to sit down and figure out exactly what’s going to make you happy. What would you really like for your future? What would you envision for your future? Then let’s come up with a good strategy so you can live the life that you deserve with balance and happiness and no frustrations. So, there are definitely options.
I think you should call up, reserve a private coaching session with me, and I’ll be able to learn a little bit more about your situation and how we can make it better. I hope that helped a little bit.
