Just came back from Poland where we held a spa leaders event in Wista, Poland. The event was sponsored by Supernova, Pevonia Poland and InSPAration Management. We were joined by 48 spa professionals, developers, resort GMs and trade publications. We gathered for 3 days at hotel Stok Ski & Spa located in south Poland. www.hotelstok.pl
The hotel was beautiful with many amenities including their own Ski Lift and Spa Botanica. Their full service spa offers a wide variety of products and services including a most unique couple’s suite.
The spa industry in Poland is booming! New spas are popping up everywhere. Several people who attended the event were either planning a spa or about to open one. It’s a very exciting time for them.
This was my fourth trip to Poland. Every year, there has been noticeable change and progress.
They face similar challenges as we face here in the U.S.: team issues, marketing, finance, lack of retail sales etc. However; they are better off when it comes to their compensation payout. Their therapists do not get paid 50% commission; their highest commission rate is 30%. That makes their business healthier and more profitable.
Although many topics were covered during the 3 day event, everyone went crazy over the spa budget and VPG
compensation plan! After I shared it, everyone signed up to purchase it. That is one key area they can improve: financial planning and the use of a spa software program. It seems that shift is now taking place.
It is very gratifying to watch so many people invest in their education and help the spa industry grow. It was so nice to be surrounded by so many professionals and kind people! I love Poland and wish them all great success!
