15 years ago I was the VP of Sales for a large Resort in Orlando, Florida. When I took over that position, nothing was working right it was like a sinking ship. I worked 100 hours per week, managed a team of over 300 people and was responsible for meeting a $20 million annually budget. I was often frustrated, exhausted, and yes, overwhelmed!

My job was to quickly turn things around. I restructured the company, come up with formulas, systems, programs and strategies. I started working smart, rather than just hard. I motivated my management team and together we were able to develop a systematic approach to our sales, operations & marketing. We also developed a very strong training program that resulted into exponential growth and success for the resort, our team and myself.

I was able to develop a business model that allowed us to double our volume in two years. We won all sorts of awards for our exemplary performance! We had the most effective resort from 28 resorts. My dreams came true. I reached the ultimate success! I stayed in that position for 5 years, but then the entrepreneur in me decided enough with corporate America, it’s time to be on my own.

In 1999 I launched my own consulting firm specializing in training and development. Wow, I can’t believe it’s been 10 years already… I have been working and consulting with spas for 10 years. How did I hook up with spas?

I have always been a spa goer, I love spas. One day I was at The Palace Resort & Spa in Orlando near my home, I received a treatment and as usual left not knowing how to take care of my skin at home. That led me to look into the business side of the spa industry.

I noticed that I could add value. On day I called Pevonia the skin care brand they were using at The Palace and I expressed my concern. That call led me to create one of my top selling seminars, Don’t Sell “Recommend”! And that’s how I started working in the spa industry. From there I began helping Pevonia with many of their spa business needs. I consulted with them for 8 years.

This experience allowed me to hear many of the challenges spa directors are faced with. As I traveled the world, I noticed that the challenges were similar no matter where I was. So I began to develop business solutions to address the challenges spa directors were experiencing.
